The Faith Channel is an interfaith religious cable television channel available to subscribers of Spectrum in Louisville, Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The channel was established in 1987 with a grant from the Mary and Barry Bingham Sr. Fund and for many years operated as a partnership of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville, the Baptist Consortium, and the Kentuckiana Interfaith Community.
The channel offers a variety of locally produced programs as well as programming from national satellite sources. The guiding mission of The Faith Channel is to:
• provide programming that reflects and encourages the religious diversity of the surrounding community; • provide values-based entertainment; • provide a means of sharing the vitality of the community’s faith traditions; and • promote the moral and ethical consciousness of the community.
The channel will not accept programming that:
• engages in proselytizing; • attacks or demeans any religious tradition, entity or group; • primarily engages in on-air solicitation of funds for a particular congregation or religious body; or • endorses political candidates or parties.
The station can be viewed via Spectrum channels 19 and 279.
