EzCater

ezCater is an online marketplace for business catering that connects businesses with catering companies and restaurants.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]} It was founded in 2007 by Stefania Mallett and Briscoe Rodgers in Boston, Massachusetts.^[1][10][11]

The Founders

ezCater, the global marketplace for corporate catering[18] was founded by Stefania Mallett and Briscoe Rodgers. Stefania Mallett holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from MIT.^[12][13] Briscoe Rodgers is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and a 5x entrepreneur who built Azuris Software and Lumis Studios.^[14] Together, they founded PreferredTime Inc. to help salespeople close deals ]before starting ezCater in 2007.^[15][7][13]

Business Model

ezCater allows businesses to search, compare, book, and manage catering orders through their website.^[1][16] Their interface provides on-time ratings and reviews for each caterer, online receipts for consolidated budgeting and billing, and customer service.^{[1][2][3][17][18][15][19]}

In 2016, they founded CaterCares in partnership with JLL that helps fight childhood hunger in local communities.^[20]

In 2017 they received the  EY, New England Entrepreneur of the Year award.^[21]

The Platform

In addition to the marketplace, ezCater offers the following products for caterers to manage orders and delivery;^{[22][23][24][25]}

• ezOrdering allows restaurants to take catering orders through their website.^[26]
• ezManage allows restaurants to organize, manage and analyze orders.^[26]
• ezDispatch connects restaurants with delivery services^{[26][16][22][27]}

Aquisition

ezCater acquired Paris-headquartered GoCater[12] in 2018 as part of their first international move.^{[1][28][29][30][31][32][16][33]}

Funding

ezCater has raised a total of $170 million in outside funding, including $4 million in 2014, $28 million in 2015, $35 million in 2017^[34][35][36] and $100 Million in 2018.^{[2][31][32][37][4][6][38][34][25][39]}
