Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is an upcoming thriller film directed by Joe Berlinger with Zac Efron starring as the serial killer Ted Bundy.

Premise

The story of Ted Bundy is shown from the perspective of his girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, who struggled to accept the reality of her boyfriend's nature.

Cast

Production

The project was unveiled at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival with Zac Efron set to star as the serial killer Ted Bundy. Documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger was hired to direct.[1] In October 2017, Lily Collins was cast as Bundy's girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer.[2]

In January 2018, John Malkovich was cast to play Edward Cowart, the judge presiding over Bundy's case. Principal production began on January 18, 2018 in Covington, Kentucky.[3] Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, Grace Victoria Cox, Kaya Scodelario, Jim Parsons, Haley Joel Osment, Dylan Baker and Terry Kinney would join the film throughout the rest of January,[4][5][6][7][8][9] with Metallica guitarist and lead singer James Hetfield joining in February.[10]
