EventCity is a large 28,000 sq metre exhibition and conference venue on Barton Dock Road close to the Intu Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester, England. It opened in 2011 and is the largest exhibition space in the North of England ,[1] with over 28,000 square metres (300,000 sq ft) of space in four halls.[2]

EventCity is located in the TraffordCity retail and entertainment destination adjacent to Intu Trafford Centre. It is close to Junctions 9 and 10 of the M60 motorway. The proposed EventCity Metrolink station, is under construction by TfGM.

History

The building was built in 1995 as a factory for Manchester Tobacco. Peel Group subsequently acquired the building from them and leased it to Argos who used the building as a warehouse. Once the lease expired, the building became the Museum of Museums from October 2010 to January 2011,[3] when it was converted to its current use.[4]

Events

EventCity has hosted events including the Caravan and Motorhome Show 2012,[5] the Manchester auditions for The X Factor[2] and the Women's Weekly's Creative Stitchcraft and Hobbycrafts Show.[6]

EventCity also hosts a series of corporate Christmas parties throughout December every year.[7]
