Eveline MacLaren

Eveline MacLaren (November 1883-1955) became one of Scotland's two first female law graduates when she and Josephine Gordon Stuart both obtained an LLB degree from the Faculty of Law at Edinburgh Law School in 1909.[1][2] The centenary of their achievement was marked in 2009 by the Law School in a programme of events titled "100 Years of Women in Law: An Edinburgh Centenary".[3]

MacLaren also obtained the Edinburgh Master of Arts degree in 1904.[4] She did not become a lawyer, but was much involved in the legal practice of her father's law firm.[1][4]

She never married, and had five sisters.[4]
