Essen-Holthausen station is located in the district of Überruhr in the city of Essen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station.[1]
A temporary station was opened between 1945 and 1946. The current station was opened on 29 September 1985.[3]
It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 9 (Haltern–Wuppertal), operating every 20 minutes during the day. It is also served by bus route 177, operated by Ruhrbahn at 20 minutes intervals during the day.[4]
