Eselealofa Apinelu
Eselealofa 'Ese' Apinelu is a Tuvaluan lawyer and sports official. She attended The Cathedral School, Townsville, Queensland, Australia.[1] She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania in 1998.[2]
She was appointed as the Acting Attorney General of Tuvalu in 2006. In 2008, Apinelu was formally appointed as the Attorney General of Tuvalu.[3][4][5][6] Given that only male expatriates served as the Attorney General before Teo's tenure (John Wilson, Neil Davidson, Beith Atkinson and David Ballantyne respectively; 1978-1991), Apinelu is the first Tuvaluan female to serve in the position. In 2012, she became the first female Executive Member of the South Pacific Lawyers' Association (SPLA)[7] and the Chair of the SPLA Women in the Law Committee.[8]
She is also President of the Tuvalu Volleyball Federation,[9] and was the manager of Tuvalu's volleyball team at the 2003 South Pacific Games.[10] She was the President of the Tuvalu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (TASNOC) from 2013-2015.[11][12]
