Erika Nikolayevna Gerceg (Ukrainian: Еріка Миколаївна Герцег, Russian: Эрика Николаевна Герцег, Hungarian: Herceg Erika; born 5 July 1989) is a Hungarian-Ukrainian singer. She is a member of the Ukrainian group Nu Virgos (also known as VIA Gra).

Biography

Gerceg was born in the village of Mala Dobron, Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union). Her father is a Hungarian of Slovak descent. Her mother is Ukrainian.

At school, she studied in the Hungarian language with other Ukrainian students. From first to fifth grade, Gerceg went to school in Záhony, a town in Hungary, having to cross the border between Ukraine and Hungary everyday to attend school. When border security became stricter, she began attending a school in her Ukrainian village. From ninth to eleventh grade, Gerceg studied at high school in the nearby village of Velyka Dobron. In 2006, she began attending II. Ferenc Rákóczi Subcarpathian Hungarian College, a Hungarian-Ukrainian school belonging to the Reformed Church in Sub-Carpathia/ Reformed Church in Transcarpathia in the city of Berehove. She graduated in 2009. While in school, she worked as a waitress.

In 2008, Gerceg lost weight (30 kg) and began working in modeling in advertising for underwear and jewelry. In April 2011, she moved to Kiev. In 2012, she received her first contract and promoting French underwear. In the same year, she was featured in the November issue of Playboy.

She joined the band VIA Gra after she and her two colleagues were chosen in a casting show in 2013. As the song they had to sing at the casting was changed shortly before the performance and her Russian was not good enough to learn the new lyrics, she improvised in Hungarian at the show.[1] The three girls won and now perform under the band name in many countries in Europe and the Middle East.
