Eric Minh Swenson

Eric Minh Swenson (born 1971) is an American photographer, photojournalist and filmmaker, born in Honolulu, Hawaii,[1] best known for his behind the scenes fetish and pornographic film work, collaborating with Dave Naz and Steve Diet Goedde. He has also focused on Southern California fine artists. [2]

Swenson has crossed his erotic photography and filmmaking with his documentary work for artists, curating a series of nude art shows and photography exhibits, including "EMS Sex" at 2014 Photo Independent art fair[3] and in spring of 2015 "EMS Nude Survey One" at Jamie Brooks Fine Art, "an eclectic exhibition of sculpture, painting, drawings and photography... removes its overt sexism."[4] To celebrate "EMS Nude Survey Two," Swenson staged a party feature live nude drawing and painting by established plein air painter Alex Schaefer.[5] [6]

He has also made over 600 short films which document artists and their processes, as well as their gallery and museum exhibitions. Subjects have included Chris Burden, Peter Shire, Cheech Marin, Lisa Adams, Gisela Colón and Don Bachardy.[7] In 2016, he filmed Las Vegas sexologist and curator Laura Henkel's daylong art exhibit, "12 Inches of Sin V."[8] His work is considered to be the most extensive documentation of both the Southern California porn and art scene to date.[9]

Swenson has written, directed and produced four feature length narrative films and a documentary, Mana. Mana was shot on Hawaii's Big Island and explores how the ocean and family affect the lives of ten Southern California male artists.[10] The filming concluded with an exhibition at Gallery MELD on Pawai Place in Kailua-Kona. Mana has screened at film festivals,[11][12] museums,[13][14] and internationally.[15]

He is currently directing the feature film Fetish starring Dulcinea Circelli.
