Eric LeMarque (born July 1, 1969) is an international best-selling author of two books. He is a former professional, Olympic, world-champion ice hockey player. On Feb. 6, 2004, he became lost in the Sierra Nevada wilderness and survived for a week by living in a makeshift igloo and eating pine nuts and needles; as well as by the use of illegal drugs.[1][2][3] He was unable to find his way back to Mammoth Mountain ski resort (or unwilling) after snowboarding alone outside of ski-run boundaries. [4]

Despite his efforts, he loses both his feet due to severe frostbite.[5]

In 2017 the movie 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain was released based on the non-fiction book Crystal Clear by Eric LeMarque and Davin Seay.[6]
