Operations

Enel Russia owns and operates four power plants:

The total installed capacity of power plant is 9 428,7  MW of power capacity and 2,382 Gcal/h of heat capacity.[9]

In Autumn 2008, Enel started construction of new 410 MW combined cycle gas turbines at Nevinnomysskaya and Sredneuralskaya GRES. The construction of both CCGTs was completed in 2011. The construction was done by an international consortium, led by Enel Engineering and Innovation. The project was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development through a €120 million long term loan. With the launch of the new CCGT, the installed capacity of Nevinnomysskaya GRES increased by 380 MW as an old 30 MW unit (N5) was decommissioned. The efficiency rate of the new CCGTs is about 58%, compared to 35-40% of conventional gas-fired power units.

Environmental program

Enel Russia has equipped power units 4, 5 and 7 of the coal-fired Reftinskaya power plant with fabric filters. The bag filters reduce the emission of dust particle to 98%. The second large-scale ecological project of Reftinskaya GRES was the construction of a dry ash removal system and the transition from the hydraulic method to dry removal of ash. The system was launched on 29 September 2015. It was the first time in Russia, when the traditional hydraulic treatment was replaced by the dry method of transportation and storage of ash.

For its achievements on environmental protection, Reftinskaya GRES won the EcoResponsibility Prize, instituted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Sverdlovsk region.

Prospects

Late in 2017 power unit No.1 of Reftinskaya GRES was equipped with a new gas treatment system which helps the modern electrostatic precipitators prevent emission of 13k ton of ashes/ year into the atmosphere. In order to ensure the optimal exhaust gas treatment, the modern Russian electrostatic precipitators were installed which have high-frequency power devices and a new control system. It allows increasing the efficiency of ash particle trapping, online controlling of voltage and electrode purge frequency, thus ensuring the equipment reliability.[10]
