Elsi Kaarina Katainen (born 17 December 1966) is a Finnish politician and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). She is a member of the Centre Party, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

Katainen served as member of the Finnish Parliament 2007–2018.[1] She took part in the 2014 European Parliament election, but didn't get elected. However, after MEP Hannu Takkula was appointed to the European Court of Auditors in March 2018, Katainen took his seat in the European Parliament for the remainder of the term.[2]
