Elizabeth Burmaster

Elizabeth Burmaster (born July 26, 1954) is an American educator and was the Superintendent of Public Instruction of Wisconsin 2001–2009.[1]

Life and career

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Burmaster received her bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Wisconsin–Madison and was in public school administration. She has honorary doctorates from Beloit and Edgewood Colleges.[2] In 2009, Burmaster was appointed President of Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.[3] Elizabeth Burmaster was appointed President of Frederick Community College, in Frederick, Maryland, in 2014.[4][5] She has in recent years been embroiled in controversy with the faculty at Frederick which led to a vote of no confidence in 2018.[6]
