Elitni Odredi (Serbian Cyrillic: Елитни Одреди, English: Elite Units) was a Serbian pop-rap group from Belgrade, formed in 2005. The group consisted of two members and long-time friends; Relja Popović and Vladimir Matović, respectively known as Drima and Wonta.

History

Formation and early years

The group was formed in 2005 by Relja Popović, Vladimir Matović and Vladan Paunović.[1] The first singles the group released were "Ako Ste Za Rakiju", "Biće Ekstra", "Sale" and others. In 2006., with the release of the single "Moja Jedina", produced by Paunović, the group gained widespread fame across Serbia and other former Yugoslav countries. Paunović soon split with the group.

Commercial success

They released their first studio album Oko Sveta (English: Around The World) in 2010, with songs "Raj", "Džek i Čivas", "Ljubav i Milion Dolara" and "Samo Da Si Sa Mnom". This album also marked their switch from rap to a more R'n'B oriented sound.

The groups singles were released, initially through the IDJVideos label. At this point the group had a more turbo folk/EDM sound.

Breakup

In January 2015, there was a great media coverage about the romance between Relja Popović and Nikolija Jovanović and Nikolija's pregnancy. When Relja and Nikolija confirmed it, media also started to write that Elitni Odredi had fallen apart because of Nikolija. They confirmed for Prva TV that the real reason is that they had overgrown the group and that it's time for new and solo projects. [2]
