Eighton Banks

Eighton Banks is the most southerly area of the town of Gateshead, England.[1] The area had a population of 613 in 2011 and is home to a very little ethnic minority population, being 97.9% White British in the latest census.[2] It is bordered by Harlow Green to the north west, Wrekenton to the north east and Birtley (also in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead but not regarded as being part of the town of Gateshead) to the south. It is home to the Ravensworth Golf club and close to the famous Angel of the North. It falls within the Lamesley ward of Gateshead Borough Council.[3] Eighton Banks is 2.6 miles south-south east of Gateshead town centre.[4]

Eighton Bank's most renowned resident was probably Norman Hunter, the Leeds United and England footballer, who was born and grew up in the village.[5]
