Eghtesad Online is the first economic news agency in Iran providing its audience with news and analyses in the economic field,[1][2] and is currently the most popular news agency in its specific field in the country. It is the only bilingual economic news agency in Iran,[3] publishing the material in English language as well.[4] Besides its ordinary services, EghtesadOnline has also some additional parts which deliver the live rates for currency, gold, gold coins, the last market prices, and which introduce Iranian economists.[5]

In its fifth proper-writing award ceremony, the Persian Language and Literature Academy ranked EghtesadOnline second in the news agencies.[6][7]

Position

As announced by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in 2017, EghtesadOnline ranked 6th between more than 200 news agencies in the country,[8] while it was ranked 28th in the year before. Some other news agencies and sources in Iran have a specific service delivering the news and analyses provided by EghtesadOnline, or cite it as their source of information.[9][10]

This news website in under direct supervision of the Supreme Board of Press Supervision. Its main audiences are the businesspeople, managers, firms’ chiefs, and the economic agents who want to get informed of the news sooner, and so the newspapers cannot suffice them.[11][12][13][14][15]

As of 2013, EghtesadOnline has gathered the information about many Iranian economists living in or out of Iran, and has covered their analyses and notes,[16] some of whom are Hadi Salehi-Esfahani, Djavad Salehi-Esfahani, Ali Tayyebnia, Masoud Nili, Mohammad-Hashem Pesaran, Mohammad Tabibian, Farshad Momeni, Mohsen Renani, Ali Madanizadeh, Abdolnaser Hemmati, etc.[17]
