... Efter stormen (English: After the Storm) is the third studio album by Swedish singer-songwriter Marie Fredriksson, released on 12 October 1987 by EMI Sweden. Preceded by the album's first and only single, the title track, which became Fredriksson's first top ten hit in her native country, the album was a commercial success. It debuted at number three on the Swedish Albums Chart, eventually spending two weeks atop the chart.[1] It was certified platinum two months after release by the Swedish Recording Industry Association, denoting shipments of over 100,000 units.[2] The album was remastered and reissued in 2003 with three bonus tracks: the b-side from the "Efter stormen" single, "Varmt och djupt", and two previously unreleased outtakes from the album sessions.

Recording and accolades

The album was recorded with many of the same musicians who performed on Fredriksson's previous album, 1986's Den sjunde vågen, although features sparser instrumentation than that release: the songs on ... Efter stormen are mainly rock and folk-based, and the record contains almost none of the synthesizer prevalent on her earlier work.[3]

The success of the record saw Fredriksson nominated in the Pop/Rock—Female category at the 1988 Grammis Awards – the Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Awards – although the album lost to Eva Dahlgren's Ung och stolt.[4] However, it won Best Swedish Album at the 1987 Rockbjörnen awards, where Fredriksson also won the award for Best Swedish Female.[5]
