Edward Lucas (born 3 May 1962) is a British writer and security-policy expert.

Education and early work

Born in Wiltshire, he was educated at New College School, Winchester College and the London School of Economics. He briefly studied Polish at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. His father is the Oxford philosopher John Lucas.

Career

Lucas was a foreign correspondent from 1988 to 2002 and wrote for The Economist until 2017. He works at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA)[1] and writes a weekly column for The Times. He writes occasionally for the Daily Mail. On 1 December 2014, he became the first e-resident of Estonia.[2]

Personal life

His second wife is the columnist Cristina Odone, with whom he has one child; he had two children with his first wife Claudia.[3]. He lives in London.
