Edita Aradinović (Serbian Cyrillic: Едита Арадиновић; born 30 June 1993) is a Serbian recording artist who rose to fame as the lead vocalist for the Serbian turbo-folk music act Ministarke.[1] After an unsuccessful audition for Zvezde Granda in 2010, she began a solo career which generated her fame in Serbia and neighbouring countries. In 2013, she joined Ministarke where she reached the peak of her popularity, with collaborations with Saša Matić, Aco Pejović and Severina.

Early life

Aradinović was born in Belgrade, where she spent her childhood. She was born of Albanian descent to Serbian-Albanian parents. She has a sister Indira, and had a brother, who passed away in 2004, when she was 11 years old.[2] She developed a passion for singing, originally influenced by Serbian turbo-folk, and American jazz music, citing Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin as her biggest influences. In Belgrade she finished trade school. Aradinović during her education trained her voice due to her strong love for music.[3]

Career

Earliest beginnings: Zvezde Granda, Solo career (2010-2012)

Aradinović presented herself as a solo musician with the 2012 single Overila, which became a Serbian summer hit. The accompanying video was filmed in Spain, and it featured a guest appearance by Robin Meberak, the brother of the Colombian singer Shakira.[4]

With Ministarke (2013-2017)

Aradinović was asked by her colleague Nemanja Stevanović to take part as the lead vocalist for the Serbian turbo-folk project Ministarke, which was an original project by Filip Miletić and Miloš Roganović.[5] The girl group also featured backing vocalist Ana Mašulović, drummer Ivana Eremić and guitarist Ivana Rudić. Their most popular songs are mostly duets with other artists from Serbia or neighbouring countries. In 2013, they collaborated with Croatian singer Severina on the song Uno momento, which soon became their signature song. Uno momento was the most viewed Serbian music video on YouTube until 2017, when Moje zlato by MC Yankoo and Milica Todorović reached one hundred million views.[6] The song also gained media attention and controversy due to the provocative content in it.[7] Other than that, they are known for the 2014 release Boing 747 and the duet with Aco Pejović Alkohola poplava.

Tvoje lice zvuči poznato (2017)

One of her more notable projects was in 2017, when it was announced that she will be acontestant in the fourth season of Tvoje lice zvuči poznato, the Serbian version of the popular imitation show Your Face Sounds Familiar.[8] Out of the 12 weeks, she only won once imitating her colleague Tijana Dapčević,[9] but she was also favoured with acts imitating Beyonce Knowles, Tifa, Indira Radic, Severina[10] and many more. After a wide spectre of enjoyed performances, she qualified for the finals. In the finals, she claimed third place of the entire season as Beyonce in December 2017.[11]
