Edward Stephenson Gamble (born 11 March 1986) is a British stand-up comedian, known for co-presenting The Peacock and Gamble Podcast and his regular appearances on Mock the Week. Educated at Durham University, he began his comedy career performing with the Durham Revue,[1] and was a finalist in the 2007 Chortle Student Comedy Awards.[2]

Early life

Gamble was brought up in southwest London.[3] He was educated at King's College School, an independent day school for boys in Wimbledon, followed by Durham University.[1]

Career

Gamble's early work was alongside Ray Peacock, with whom he presented two different series of podcasts, totalling over 100 episodes. He has also appeared on television, performing a 15-minute set on the extended version of Russell Howard's Good News in late 2010. He is a regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; he appeared there in 2011, 2012 and 2013 with Peacock. Gamble also recorded a series of radio shows with Peacock on FUBAR Radio. Peacock and Gamble were named as the act creating the biggest "Buzz" in Edinburgh Fringe history in 2013.

In 2014 Gamble debuted solo at Edinburgh Fringe with his "Gambletron 5000" show. He returned in 2015 with "Lawman" and in 2016 with "Stampede". His stand-up performances contain much observational comedy, often aimed at himself, but he also discusses his diabetes, which he was diagnosed with as a teenager.

Gamble also appeared in 2015, with Amy Hoggart, in Almost Royal, a faux-reality show on BBC America. They played a brother and sister, Georgie and Poppy Carlton. The show was shown on E4 in the UK and was followed by a second series in 2016.

Gamble has been a regular panellist on the BBC panel show Mock the Week since July 2015.

He has guest-hosted the Elis James and John Robins Show on Radio X in 2017 and 2018. He is also known as the "diabeast".

His 'downstairs' maintenance was briefly mentioned in Greg Davies Netflix special You Magnificent Beast.
