Echium aculeatum (the Blue pride of Madeira or the Madeiran blue pride) is an endemic species of white coloured[1][2] perennial plant from Boraginaceae family, that can be found in the north coast of Madeira Island, Porto Santo Island and Bugio. The plant have leather-like leaves, which are also densely spiny.

Its name in Portuguese is "massaroco[2]

The species name is from the Latin for "nervous".[1]

Description

The plant can grow to 2 m long and has white-blue-lavender stems. The leaves are lanceolate, about 4.5 to 12.5 cm long.[1]

The plant blooms between January and August.
