Echium aculeatum is an endemicspecies of white coloured[1] perennial plant from Boraginaceae family, that can be found in Tenerife. The plant have leather-like leaves, which are also densely spiny.

Its name in Spanish is ajinajo[2] which comes from the Guanche name ahinaho.

The species name is from the Latin for "short branch" as its branch size is small. Its leaves are lanceolate. Similar to Echium aculeatum which its difference is in a part of its calyx is long as the corolla and is white.

Echium aculeatum are closely related to Echium leucophaeum of the island. And E. brevirame, E. gentianoides, E. piniana and E. webbii of La Palma
