Eastlea Community School is a community school in the London Borough of Newham in Canning Town, London E16. The school has excellent study facilities for 11- to 16-year-olds offering a wide range of GCSE subjects, and BTEC National Diplomas as well as early entry A-level courses in Mathematics, Science and French/Spanish.

The school also offers Cisco Essential's 4 training for students. The school promotes a broad and balanced curriculum - Sport and the Arts are promoted successfully alongside the academic curriculum.

The school is led by former deputy headteacher at Forest Gate Community School, the sixth best in the country for GCSE results in 2017, Stephen Gillatt, who took over in September 2017.

Mr Gillatt told the Newham Recorder he will make the school Ofsted rated Outstanding.

BBC

The BBC launched Make it Digital - a major UK-wide initiative to inspire a new generation to get creative with coding, programming and digital technology - at Eastlea Community School in November 2015.

The initiative is run in partnership with Microsoft Corporation, whose chief executive Satya Nadella attended the launch.

Scholarship Programme

The school runs a scholarship initiative in partnership with charity Eastside Young Leader Academy. In 2017, Iyanuoluwa Agbedejobi was awarded a £76,000 scholarship to Wellington College. Funding for Iyanuoluwa place at Wellington was provided by The Spring Board Bursary Foundation.[1]

In 2018, Teniola Akinola was awarded a £30, 000 a year scholarship to City of London Freemen's School. She will study A Levels in History, physics and chemistry

In 2018, Anup Daz was offered a place at the King's College London Mathematics School

Remodelling

Eastlea Community School underwent an extensive £13m Building Schools For the Future redevelopment creating a campus style learning environment.

Ofsted

Eastlea was rated as 'Good' following an Ofsted inspection, published 29 April 2014.[2]
