Eastern Theater Command, one of the five war zones of People's Liberation Army, was founded on February 1, 2016; its predecessor is the Nanjing Military Region.

Its jurisdiction includes Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shanghai [1]and the East Sea Fleet.[2] It consists of three group armies:the 72nd Group Army (formerly 1st group army), 71st Group Army (formerly 12th group army), and 73rd Group Army(formerly 31st group army).[3] The ground force headquarter of the Eastern theater command is located in Fuzhou, Fujian, China.[4] The joint command headquarters is located in Nanjing.[1]

Its commander is Gen. Liu Yuejun and political commissar is Lt. Gen. He Ping.
