East Bakersfield High School is a 9-12 high school located in Bakersfield, CA.

Built in 1938, EBHS, commonly called "East" or "EB", is the second oldest high school in Bakersfield after Bakersfield High School.

Campus

When East Bakersfield High School was constructed, the corner of Niles and Oswell was considered to be the edge of town. While Kern General Hospital was nearby, there was nothing to the east but rolling hills.

There are two locations on campus named for EBHS students killed in action during WWII. Permenter Field, named for Raymond "Ray" Permenter, who died at the age of 19 was dedicated in 1948, and Bayless Hall, named to honor the third ASB President, Herbert Bayless, which was dedicated in 1949.[4] Ray Permenter was the first in the schools history to earn 12 athletic letters and was selected All-County football and basketball. He is credited with scoring the first touchdown in an East High football game on a 67 yard interception return against Bakersfield High School.[5]

Athletics

EBHS sports teams are called the Blades, and have their home games on campus. The Blades participate in the Southeast Yosemite League (Div. II, CIF Central Section) and have Varsity, JV and Frosh/Soph teams. Below are all the sports that EBHS participates in and their respective seasons:
