EAB is a best practices firm that uses research, technology, and consulting to address challenges within the education industry.[1] EAB is headquartered in Washington, DC, with satellite offices in Richmond, VA, Birmingham, AL, and Bloomington, MN.

History

EAB, formerly the Education Advisory Board, was founded in 2007 as a division of The Advisory Board Company, primarily serving the higher education industry.

On December 11, 2014, it was announced that EAB was to acquire Royall & Company, based in Richmond, Virginia, for $850M.[2] Royall & Company was founded in 1983 and specialized in enrollment management, financial aid models and alumni fundraising. Royall & Company services has been integrated into EAB and re-branded as Enrollment Services, Financial Aid Optimization, and Advancement Marketing Services.

In 2015, EAB announced the acquisition of GradesFirst, a student success technology company based in Birmingham, Alabama. GradesFirst workflow functionality has been incorporated into EAB's Student Success Collaborative (SSC) platform.

On November 17, 2017, EAB announced that it would be established as an independent company, and separate from The Advisory Board Company[3]. The business was acquired by Vista Equity Partners, a leading investment firm for roughly $2.5B.[4]
