Dylan Brady

Dylan Brady (born October 29, 1998) is an American Country recording artist, singer/songwriter, producer, and activist from Long Island, New York.

After being diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome in 2010, at the age of 12, Dylan became know as a Youth Ambassador for the Tourette Syndrome Association[1] to help inform and enlighten others about Tourette and share his message of acceptance and tolerance for all. In 2014 he was featured in Disney Channels Make Your Mark series[2] for the activism work he had done[3] coupled with his flourishing music career.[4]

Dylan released his first EP at age 14 which charted in iTunes top 100 Pop Charts, at age 15 he opened for Meghan Trainor and at age 16 he released a full length album charting top 100 on iTunes again.[5]

Music Career (2014 to Present)

Dylan began his musical career in a duo with his twin Cody. They were better known as The Brady Brothers. They saw early success with their music, opening for artists like Meghan Trainor[6] [7][8][9][10]and 5 Seconds of Summer[5] He also headlined Doug Wimbish's Wimbash Festival.Together they released their first EP that charted in iTunes top 100 pop charts and their debut full length album that charted in the top 100 of iTunes pop charts as well. [11] When asked about Dylan Brady and his Tourettes Syndrome Wimbish would go on to say "Music got [Dylan Brady] to something that stabilized his life. … Singing helped him to deal with his disability and be able to have something to hold on to."[12]

Brady later moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he attended Belmont University as a songwriter major.[13] He later left school after one year of Belmont to pursue music full time.

Dylan would eventually go on to touring with social media groups including Impact Meet & Greet Tour where he toured with members of the band Why Don't We [14]. Durning this time he built up a large social media following. In the summer of 2016, Brady was invited to be a music counselor at Zac Brown Band's Camp Southern Ground.[15] The camp, in Peachtree City, Georgia, which is overseen by Zac Brown is designed to be a place of diversity meant to serve underprivileged youth and those with learning disabilities[16] Dylan was later asked to be the opening act for Zac Brown Band at the Night of Candles Festival, a benefit concert for Camp Southern Grounds.[17]

In 2017 Brady signed an artist development deal with Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts.[18] Together they produced Dylan's first single, Shifting Gears, released in August of 2018. [19] It would soon be followed by his release of, Fallin' in September of 2018.[20]

Early Life

Brady was born and raised in Sea Cliff a neighborhood on Long Island, New York. He was born October 29, 1998, along with his twin brother Cody Brady to his father John Brady and mother, Nancy Brady. He also has an older sister named Bridgette.[21] He attended North Shore Middle School and High School, where he played soccer, hockey and lead music groups.

Dylan's musical interest was generated by his father who was a musician as well. Dylan began playing drums at age six and was singing as soon as he could talk. He was in numerous bands growing up and for an extended period of time played in a duo with his brother, Cody[22].

Dylan was officially diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age 13. Dylan found that he wanted to be involved in helping and became a youth ambassador for the Tourette Syndrome Association in high school, while simultaneously pursuing his passion to perform music as the lead singer and drummer in the band The Brady Brothers[23].

Newsday published an article on June 15, 2013 entitled "Teen Works for Tourette Understanding". In the article we learn about Dylan's dream of being an artist on stage performing and his daily struggle with Tourette Syndrome, he talks about how he won't let this hold him back from following his dream.[24]
