Dwijen Bandyopadhyay

Dwijen Bandyopadhyay (September 22, 1949 – September 27, 2017[1]) was a veteran Bengali actor and theater personality of West Bengal.

Career

Bandyopadhyay came to the limelight through a popular Bengali comedy serial Chuni Panna and Labonyer Sansar.[2] Afterwords he became known face in Bengali film industry. He acted in various movies and T.V serials. Bandyopadhyay played in both intellectual and mainstream films along with Group theatre of Kolkata.[3][4][5] He performed in dramas like; Amritakkhar, Ghora, Samabartan, Balidan, Abhimukh, Dashchakra, Mallabhumi, and Mushtijog. Bandyopadhyay constituted his own theatre group Sanstab in 1992.[6]

In 1992 he receive Paschim Banga Natya Akademi award for his acting in the drama named Balidan.[6]

Death

On 27 September 2017, Bandyopadhyay died of a massive heart attack at his residence in Kolkata at 68.[7][5]
