Dwight Vern Bernard (born May 31, 1952) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played in the major leagues from 1978 to 1982 for the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets. While playing for Milwaukee, he was a member of the 1982 squad that won the ALCS, and pitched in the 8th inning of Game 6 of the World Series on October 19, 1982, which Milwaukee lost to the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 13-1. Since 2006, Bernard has been the pitching coach for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, a minor league team for the Seattle Mariners. He was named pitching coach of the Class-A Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League after the '09 season.[2]
Bernard was let go by the Mariners organization after the 2013 season and later hired by the San Francisco Giants where he is currently the pitching coach for their Sacramento River Cats minor league affiliate.
