Dukascopy Bank SA.[1] is a Swiss online bank specialized in online and mobile trading, banking and financial services [2]. Dukascopy Bank has three subsidiaries: Dukascopy Europe IBS AS (European licensed brokerage company based in Riga), Dukascopy Japan (Type-1 licensed broker located in Tokyo) and SIA Dukascopy Payments (European licensed payment and e-money company incorporated in Riga). The Group’s headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland. Dukascopy Bank also has offices in Riga, Kiev, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai and Tokyo. The company has over 300 employees [3].

Areas of activity

Dukascopy Bank provides online and mobile trading services through the SWFX – Swiss FX Marketplace, the Dukascopy's ECN proprietary technological solution and registered trademark. Company’s activities focus on foreign exchange, CFDs for stocks, metals, commodities, indices, cryptocurrencies and binary options. Dukascopy Bank also offers current account, e-banking [4], and credit card services. Additionally, it provides free financial information through its website, online television Dukascopy TV, Freeserv products, and its online Dukascopy community.

Dukascopy Bank is regulated by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA [5] both as a bank and a securities dealer [6] [7].

History

The history of Dukascopy Bank started in 1998 when group of physicists headed by Andre Duka launched Dukascopy Trading Technologies Corp. The mission of this project was research, development and implementation of complex financial system via novel mathematical and econophysical techniques. In 1999 Dukascopy project starts the development of its Trading platform [8]

In 2004 Andre Duka together with his partner Veronika Duka created Swiss Brokerage House Dukascopy. In 2006 Dukascopy launched its ECN, the SWFX Swiss Forex Marketplace. Within 2 years, in 2008 Dukascopy Forex TV was launched as a free tool to provide technical and fundamental analysis to traders and financial professionals, further the concept of Dukascopy TV was widened and in 2015 it was officially registered as a Swiss TV broadcaster by Federal Office of Communications from Swiss State regulator OFCOM [9]. Dukascopy has been authorized by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA to conduct banking activities in 2010. Geneva Forex Event [10] was launched in 2010 as a monthly meeting point to follow up on current events, to network and to establish public relations.

Dukascopy Bank SA opens its subsidiary Dukascopy Europe IBS AS in Riga to operate in the European retail market. Dukascopy Bank became a member of the Swiss Bankers Association [11] in 2012. FINMA authorised Dukascopy to conduct securities dealer activities in 2013, and in 2014 Dukascopy Bank included binary options and CFD instruments to its service portfolio.

In 2015 Dukascopy Bank acquired 100% of Alpari Japan K.K. [12], a Type-1 licensed Japanese broker based in Tokyo which was renamed Dukascopy Japan K.K. Also 2015 was the start for SIA Dukascopy Payments, a Riga-based licensed company offering instant payment services through smartphones.
