Du Feng, (simplified Chinese: 杜锋; traditional Chinese: 杜鋒; pinyin: Dù Fēng; born July 30, 1981 in Ürümqi, Xinjiang), is a retired Chinese professional basketball player. At a height of 207 cm (6'9 ½"), and a weight of 100 kg (220 pounds), he played as a power forward-center.

Playing career

Professional

Du was the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Finals MVP in 2004. He last played for the Guangdong Southern Tigers, a team based in Dongguan, Guangdong.

Chinese national team

Du competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics with the senior men's Chinese men's national basketball team (Team China).

Coaching career

In the 2016-17 CBA season, Du Feng led the Guangdong Southern Tigers its head coach. He led the team to the finals where the Southern Tigers loss to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.[1]

In April 2017, it was reported that Du was appointed as the head coach of one of the two Chinese national basketball teams formed by the Chinese Basketball Association to in preparation for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup and 2020 Summer Olympics.[1] Du was assigned to coach the China Blue team which will participate in competitive play in 2018 while Li Nan will mentor the China Red team which will compete in 2017.[2]

Personal life

Du is a Muslim, and a member of the Hui ethnic group.
