Dominic Armato (born November 18, 1976)[1] is an American voice actor, journalist and food critic. He is best known for his work on LucasArts games. His most famous role is the voice of Guybrush Threepwood[2] in the Monkey Island series.

After ending his active voice-acting career in the early 2000s (with brief appearances in games), Armato has worked in the dining industry. Until 2015, Armato wrote a food-oriented blog, Skillet Doux. He has been employed by The Arizona Republic as a food critic and journalist since 2015.[3]

Career

Dominic had been a fan of adventure games, specifically LucasArts games such as Monkey Island. As he says in his interview, he was discussing jokingly with a friend of his, that the ideal role for him would be Guybrush Threepwood for a hypothetical sequel of the games, when two months later he was appointed for that role.[4]

He has also provided voices in several games based on the Star Wars franchise, such as Star Wars: Droid Works.

Monkey Island

Armato debuted as Guybrush Threepwood in The Curse of Monkey Island, released in 1997. He returned for its 2000 sequel Escape from Monkey Island. After 9 years, he reprised his role as Guybrush Threepwood again in the newest, 2009 episodic title of the series, Tales of Monkey Island, developed by Telltale Games, as well as voicing the character in the remakes of the first two original games, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition.[5] With the release of the second remake, Armato has now provided voice work for a version of every Monkey Island game.
