Dodgen Middle School is a Georgia Schools of Excellence[3] middle school located in East Cobb, Georgia, United States, as part of the Cobb County School District. Its current principal is Dr. Loralee Hill,[2]and its assistant principals are Tia Bryller, Kim Kranzlein, and Gary Jackson.

As of the 2017-2018 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,246 students and 67 teachers, for a student-teacher ratio of 18.61.[1]

Awards and achievements

In 2009, Dodgen Middle School was awarded the Georgia Schools of Excellence award by the Georgia Department of Education.[1]

In the 2011-2012 school year, Dodgen Middle School was named as a participating school in The Clean Air Campaign.[4]

In the 2014-2015 school year, the Dodgen Middle School Science Olympiad team won first place in the state championship, after finishing as runner-up in the state championship for the past two years. The team was invited to the Science Olympiad national championship in all three years because of its performances at the state championships.[5]

In the 2016-2017 year, the Dodgen Chamber Orchestra won first place in the Middle School Division of the National Orchestra Festival held by the American String Teachers Association in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. [6]
