Dillon James Peters (born August 31, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Career

Peters attended Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 20th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. He did not sign and attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he played college baseball.[1][2] His junior season came to an end early after he suffered an elbow injury which required Tommy John Surgery.[3] Despite the injury, he was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 10th round of the 2014 MLB draft.[4]

Peters made his professional debut in 2015 with the GCL Marlins and was later promoted to the Batavia Muckdogs; in 11 total starts between the two teams, he was 1–4 with a 3.60 ERA. In 2016, he played for the Jupiter Hammerheads and Jacksonville Suns,[5][6] compiling a combined 14–6 record and 2.38 ERA over 24 total starts. He spent 2017 with Jupiter, Jacksonville, and the GCL Marlins, posting a combined 7–3 record and 1.57 ERA in 13 starts.[7]

The Marlins promoted Peters to the major leagues to make his debut on September 1, 2017.[8] He started six games for Miami, going 1–2 with a 5.17 ERA.
