Paolo Diego Bubbio (born 1974) is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Western Sydney University. He is known for his research on post-Kantian philosophy, hermeneutics and philosophy of religion.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] He received his PhD in philosophy from the University of Turin.
Philosophy
Bubbio focuses on perspectivism (the belief that there is no underlying “true” reality which exists independently of the activity of the cognitive agent) as the fundamental feature of the post-Kantian philosophy. He argues that based on this perspectivism, the religious claims are removed from the realm of theoretical reason and only have symbolic and regulative meaning. Bubbio believes that the issues regarding the theoretical content of religion do not properly belong to philosophy of religion.
Analyzing Hegel's conception of God, Bubbio thinks that content can be restored to religion, only to the extent that God is understood in God’s relation to human beings, and human beings are understood in their relation to God. Therefore the Hegelian God can be an answer to the challenge of how to conceive the mind-world relation without setting mind over and against the world and it can be a way of overcoming subjectivism in both philosophy and religion.
