Country of origin Germany

Die Rosenheim-Cops is a German television series set in Chiemgau, mainly in Rosenheim. It was produced by the Bavaria Film GmbH for the ZDF.

The cost per episode is estimated at 425,000 Euro[1].

Concept

The series is based on the contrast between a rustic Upper Bavarian small town inspector and a city slicker colleague, who has been transferred to the town for sometimes incomprehensible reasons. The new colleague is always received heartily and gets integrated into the team quickly. Due to their different background the two investigators are portrayed as each others antithesis.

Each episode usually starts with the discovery of a body. This is usually communicated to the investigators by the secretary Mrs. Stockl with the words "Es gabat a Leich!" ("There is a dead body"). This mostly happens during meals, usually breakfast, at the Farm of Mrs. Hofer, the Sister of the main character Kriminalhauptkommissar Korbinian Hofer. This meal is usually eaten outside, as the weather in the show is almost always sunny and warm.

Parallel to the murder investigation there is always some parallel story used as running gag, like a lottery win, some happenings at the farm or at the police office. This side story is usually resolved at the end of each show.
