Dictionary of Modern American Philosophers

The Dictionary Of Modern American Philosophers is a 2005 four volume biographical reference work edited by John R. Shook, then of Oklahoma State University, published by Thoemmes Continuum.[1][2] Its consulting editors were Richard T. Hull, Bruce Kuklick, Murray G. Murphey and John G. Slater.[1] It was published online in 2010.[3] Thoemmes Continuum hailed the publication as "the most comprehensive reference source ever on American authors who wrote about philosophical ideas and issues".[2] noting that it included "non-academic philosophers, and a large number of female and minority thinkers whose work has been neglected" and intellectuals involved in the development of disciplines that had, in their day, yet to be considered as distinct from philosophy.
