Devon and Cornwall Railways (DCR) was a British freight operating company, active from 2011. It was a subsidiary of British American Railway Services,[1] itself owned by Iowa Pacific Holdings (IPH)[2] which had also purchased the Dartmoor Railway and Weardale Railway in 2008.[3]

Operations

DCR planned to operate passenger services between Okehampton and Exeter St Davids from May 2010 purchasing Mark 2 carriages and Driving Brake Standard Opens, but this did not happen.[4][5][6]

In 2010 the business of Hanson Traction was purchased, with six locomotives.[7][8] The Office of Rail Regulation granted the company a freight licence in December 2010[9] and in May 2011, DCR commenced operating freight services.[10][11]

Operations came under new ownership from November 2017, and with the Washwood Heath depot needing to be vacated for High Speed 2 construction works, RMS who now owned the entire fleet of 12 locomotives put them up for sale.[12] Operations are continuing with hired-in resources. It is reported that 56091 and 56103 have been purchased by DC Rail with 50008 also being operated by them.

  • Class 31: 31190, 31452, 31454, 31468, 31601, 31602
  • Class 56: 56091, 56103, 56128, 56303, 56311, 56312
