After that tour the band started recording their fourth album which was released in fall 2017 under the name Finisterre. The album peaked at no. 82 in German Albums charts.[2]

Musical style

Der Weg einer Freiheit are strongly influenced by the Swedish style of black metal. Kamprad, who is responsible for all compositions of the band, named bands as 1349, Orlog,[3] Nocte Obducta, Negator, Imperium Dekadenz,[4] Naglfar, Drautran,[5] Emperor[3][4][5] and Dissection as musical references.[3][4] Kamprad said, that he tries to follow a more progressive way then when played in Frostgrim.[4] The music was compared with Agrypnie and Swedish black metal.[1] The vocals where compared to Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone.[6]

The lyrics which are dealing with personal feelings, thoughts of the past, the abyss of human society[7] as well as angst, loneliness and hopelessness are written in German language;[4] while Black Metal base on a satanic background, Kamprad stated that satanism have no business in Der Weg einer Freiheit.[4] Even though the musicians describe Der Weg einer Freiheit as black metal band.[4]
