The Denton Record-Chronicle is the main newspaper for the city of Denton, Texas and Denton County.

In 1899, William Edwards consolidated the Denton Chronicle (1882) and the Denton County Record (1898), as a weekly newspaper. It was not until August 3, 1903 that the paper was published daily. The estimated daily subscription circulation in 2011 was 9,200, with a Wednesday circulation of 24,700 (delivered to subscribers and free to non-subscribers) and a Sunday circulation of 12,500.

On October 31, 2017, the long-time publisher of the Denton Record Chronicle, Bill Patterson, announced plans to buy the newspaper publication from A. H. Belo Corporation. The paper had previously been sold to A. H. Belo by the Patterson's in 1999. Bill Patterson strives to bring the newspaper back to its local roots in Denton.[2]
