Dennis Faulkner

Colonel Sir James Dennis Compton Faulkner CBE VRD UD DL (b. 22 October 1926 & d. 31 December 2016) was a Northern Irish officer in the Royal Navy.

Brother of the former Northern Ireland Prime Minister Brian Faulkner, he held the rank of Lieutenant commander in the Royal Naval Reserve and was subsequently commissioned into the Ulster Defence Regiment where he commanded the Boat Section of the 3rd (Co Down) Battalion[1] before eventually being installed as Regimental Colonel in 1982[2]

He was invested a CBE in 1980 and knighted in the 1991 New Year Honours. He held the office of Deputy Lord Lieutenant of County Down in 1988.

He died on 31 December 2016 at the age of 90.[3]
