Denise Vasi (born March 1, 1983) is an American actress and fashion model from Brooklyn, New York.,[1] She attended Long Island University where she studied Business. She resides in Los Angeles, California.[2]

Vasi is best known for her role as Raquel Lancaster in Single Ladies and for Randi Hubbard[3] on ABC's All My Children, a role she played from May 29, 2008, till fall 2011.

Early years

She is the daughter of Dominican father and a half Greek, half Puerto Rican mother. She was born in Puerto Rico, lived in the Dominican Republic, signed to Ford Models[4] at the age of 12. She went on to grace the pages of international campaigns for publications like ELLE, Marie Claire, and GQ Italy. Vasi appeared in numerous on-camera and print campaigns for a number of cosmetic, hair care, and fashion brands which include Olay, Bobbi Brown, Dove, Urban Decay, M·A·C, L’Oreal, Target, Doll House, American Eagle, and Republic before settling into her life as an actress.[5]

Acting career

Vasi’s television breakout role was in ABC's longstanding daytime soap opera All My Children. From 2008 to 2011, Vasi starred as Randi Hubbard, former prostitute and wife of series veteran Frankie Hubbard.

In 2009, when All My Children moved its production from New York to Los Angeles, Vasi relocated with the show. In 2012 Vasi starred as the character Ruby opposite Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey, in the Steven Soderbergh-directed feature film Magic Mike. In 2013, Vasi starred in Charles Murray’s debut indie drama Things Never Said. From 2012 to 2014, Vasi starred as the smart, savvy, businesswoman and leading lady, Raquel Lancaster, in VH1's hit, one-hour scripted series, Single Ladies.[6] The series was produced, for three seasons, by Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment. Single Ladies chronicles three friends and their take on love, dating and female friendship. Additional credits for Vasi’s work include feature films The Good Guy opposite Alexis Bledel, and What's Your Number? opposite Anna Faris and Chris Evans. Her roles on television shows also include White Collar, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Protector, and How to Make It in America.

During her modelling career Vasi was represented by Next Models and was featured in numerous[7] on-camera and print campaigns for cosmetics and hair care brands including:

Vasi has also been featured in campaigns for fashion labels[8] Fiorucci (Spring 2009), Doll House, American Eagle, Old Navy and UK brand Republic. She can also be found gracing the pages of the Avon catalogue as well as modeling for Frederick's of Hollywood.[9]

Personal life

Vasi resides in Los Angeles with her husband, film and commercial director Anthony Mandler,[10] and daughter, Lennox Mae.[11] The family splits their time living between New York City and Venice, Los Angeles.[12][13]

Philanthropy

Vasi's other interests include cooking, natural health, fitness and philanthropy. In her off-screen role as co-chairman of Caron Renaissance's "Save A Life Event",[14][15] she has helped raise over $800,000 for addiction recovery. Vasi is also on the Women's Leadership Council for the Zimmer Children’s Museum.[16] She has joined in their mission to guide children and youth to recognize injustice and possibility within their communities and beyond. She is responsible for organizing a diaper drive, totally more than 6000 diapers for a local organization that supports Los Angeles children in need.
