Delta Work is the stage name of Gabriel Villarreal[1], a Mexican American drag performer and fashion stylist, best known for competing on the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race. In 2018, Villarreal received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special.[2]

Early life

Villarreal was born in January 23, 1976 in Norwalk, California. He used the name Delta Work after a performance portraying Delta Burke in "Designing Women".

Drag Race

Delta Work was selected among thirteen contestants for the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race, which was announced on January 24, 2011.[3] He placed seventh overall, losing a lip sync performance to Manila Luzon on Donna Summer's "MacArthur Park".[4]

Outside of season three, he was an audience member for the season five and season six reunion[5][6], and he was a guest with other Drag Race alumni for the first challenge of season ten.[7]

Post-Drag Race

After the show, Villarreal appeared on a 2011 episode of E!'s The Soup with RuPaul, Shangela and Raja.[8]

He makes recurring appearances on WoWPresent's internet show "Fashion Photo Ruview" filling in for Raja or Raven to critique looks from Drag Race alumni, with his first appearance on November 19, 2014.[9] He also makes regular appearances on the web show "The Pit Stop" which reviews the episodes of Drag Race after they air. He was on its debut episode on August 27, 2016.[10]

On August 6, 2016, he was invited on stage by Adele in a Los Angeles concert, while he was in full drag as an Adele impersonator. There they took a selfie, which quickly went viral.[11] Villarreal became Rupaul's personal wig stylist for his judging panel attire since the second episode of the ninth season, with Raven styling his makeup.[12]

Music

Delta released his first and so far only single, "The Walkin' Blues (Walk Right In, Walk Right Out)" on May 12, 2015.[13] He also was part of the group, The Heathers, with Raja, Manila Luzon and Carmen Carrera to make their first and only single, "Lady Marmalade" on June 6, 2014.[14]
