Delair is a supplier of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones to commercial enterprises. Its products include a number of fixed-wing style autonomous flying aircraft, as well as integrated software analytics that are used to collect and analyze data for surveying, mapping and monitoring. They are also used by oil & gas industries, utilities, construction, mining, transportation, agriculture, and civil security to monitor assets, perform maintenance and collect data to manage business operations.

History

Delair was founded in 2011 by Michaël de Lagarde, Benjamin Benharrosh, Benjamin Michel, Bastien Mancini, and is headquartered near Toulouse, France. It currently has 100 employees in France, Belgium, the US and China.

Michaël de Lagarde is Delair’s CEO.[1] Benharrosh has been named in the list of the 25 most influential people in the commercial drone industry.[2]

In 2012 the Delair DT18 UAV became the first drone certified to operate beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights.[3] In 2012, Delair closed its first round of funding, receiving $3.5M from Andromede and Parrot.[4]

In 2014 it created Delair Analytics, a data analysis center.

In 2015 the company raised $14.5 million in funds through an investment by Andromede and Galia.[5]

In 2016 Delair acquired Gatewing, the UAV business of Trimble.[6]

A record was set in 2017 for a BVLOS flight with a distance of 30 miles via 3G wireless connectivity with French utility company RTE.[7] The company began testing BVLOS flights in the US in 2017.[8] Also in 2017, Intel Corporation announced a strategic partnership with Delair to provide technology for its Intel Insight UAV platform[9] In the same year they recorded sales of $8.5 million and manufactured 1250 drones.

In 2018 Delair was named to World Economic Forum's list of Technology Pioneers, which recognizes the world's most innovative small companies.[10]

In September 2018 they expanded their software platform through an investment by Intel Capital.[11] and Delair also opened its first office in China.[12]
