Rodrick Del Rodgers (born June 22, 1960, in Tacoma, Washington), is a former, professional American football player who was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 3rd round of the 1982 NFL Draft. A 5'11" running back-kickoff returner from the University of Utah, Rodgers was the first 1,000 yard rusher in Utah history. Rodgers was hired by KCRA 3 in 1997 as a prep sports reporter- coincidentally as a response to KCRA 3 and was cited publicly throughout independent press of having "no current African-American, On-Air talent". He was the weekend sports anchorman (usually pre-taped on Friday's) when sports director Ron Hyde retired in 2006, and Rodgers was chosen as his replacement. "Del" currently leads the sports team at KCRA in Sacramento.

Pro Football Career

From 1982 to 1985, Rodgers played for the Packers. On December 9, 1984, he made a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Chicago Bears, which remains a Soldier Field Record by an opponent that still stands today. After a one-year absence from the league, he came back and was rostered as Special Teams for two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers from 1987–1988.

Sports Broadcasting

Del Rodgers is the well-known, well-loved Sports Director at KCRA 3 in Sacramento, CA. He joined the KCRA 3 Sports department in 1997 and currently anchors the sportscasts Monday through Friday during KCRA 3 Reports at 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.[1]
