Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering ( Commonly referred to as DSCE). DSCE was established in 1979 and is Recognised as one of the top engineering colleges in Karnataka. DSCE is a sector of DSI(DAYANANDA SAGAR INSTITUTIONS). The Institute is named in honour of its Founder President Late Shri R Dayananda Sagar. Who is a Well known great confident leader who saw no reason why, as an Indian he could not provide education for all sections of society. Best known for his pivotal role in setting up the Mahatma Gandhi Vidhya Peetha Education Trust (MGVP) in 1960. Late Dayananda sagar also played an important role in the education sector of emerging India. DSCE is located in Bangalore, Karnataka. It is a Autonomous institute Affiliated to VTU. DSCE has been securing maximum marks under VTU consistently past 5 years, continuing the trend of securing 54 university ranks, highest by any college in Karnataka. In 2015, the college was granted Autonomy.The placement cell of DSCE has achieved high success rates year over year. It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute, Approved by AICTE & UGC and Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation council (NAAC). It is Ranked as one of the top engineering colleges in karnataka. Rated as "AAAA". It is run by the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peetha Trust. The trust Manages 28 insitutions in the name of "DAYANANDA SAGAR INSTITUTION" and multi-speciality Hospitals in the name of "SAGAR HOSPITALS" [4] The institute Offers widest choice of Engineering branches having 15 Undergraduate, 13 Postgraduate courses. Engineering branches are Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Institute is recognised by Department of scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR). And has received a National Mission Project from "DSIR". It has 21 Research centres in different branches of engineering which are recognised by VTU.

Academics

Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering offers 160 undergraduate programs leading to 4/5 year bachelor's degree, 16 post graduate programs leading to 2/3 year master's degree and 21 Research Centers offering 2/5 year MSc(Engg)/PhD degree. The Academic degrees are awarded by Visvesvaraya Technological University.[5]

Student activities

The students of DSI are involved in extra-curricular activities and student collegiate clubs. These include:

  • SAE-DSCE: The SAE club in DSCE, is one of the largest student clubs by membership in India.[6]
  • IET-DSI: The student chapter of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) at the campus was established on 20 March 2012.[7] The chapter hosted the Regional event of IET-PATW and then South Asia level PATW.

  • Sports: A football field, tennis court, basketball, squash court, gymnasium, aerobics hall and volleyball court are in the campus, apart from other facilities for indoor and outdoor games.
  • Premachandra Sagar Centre for Performing Arts is an auditorium
  • QuestDSCE, the official collegiate quiz club, conducts scores of inter-college quizzes.

Research facilities and industry interaction

Research forms one of the main thrust of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. It has a Biochemical Engineering Laboratory with activities funded by All India Council Technical Education (AICTE), Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), and National Aviation Fuel Board (NAFB). It has tie-ups with German Research Center and research centers in Europe. Research projects from DST, AICTE, DBT and DRDO have been granted to departments of DSCE. Students are encouraged to publish research articles in national and international forums. Research internships are made available to students in institutes like IIT and ISI. Many departments have been declared as centers of excellence by VTU in recognition of the research contributions.
