David Olshanetsky (born October 1, 1997) is a British-Israeli Tumblr blogger, entrepreneur, and television writer. He is also known under 'TheShitneySpears', also the name of his Tumblr blog.[2] He is the first Tumblr influencer to have approved for the new partner program with the campaign starting at V Festival with support from ASOS. [3]

Personal life

David Olshanetsky's popularity[4] increased after followers became interested in his diary style entries about his relationships in 2013.[5] He has been shown by Tumblr as the most popular male account in Europe, and fifth most popular account globally.[6]

He is studying English & Media BA at Goldsmiths, University of London, and began to live in London.

On September 20, 2016, Olshanetsky came out as bisexual to his followers after many rumours and to coincide with his first appearance at the top of the Tumblr trending topics chart.[7]

Career

2013–15: Early beginnings

On 20 August 2013, Olshanetsky reblogged his first post, a meme regarding Club Penguin.[8] On 16 September 2015, he released his first collaborative post with Charli XCX and Red Bull.[9] This began as his first sponsored post, with others including Apple Music and Chipotle.

2016–present: Breakthrough

On 30 March 2017, he signed with Hello Management.[10] Shortly after he announced his debut non-fiction book, with interviewees including Dustin Lance Black and Olly Alexander. The release date is currently unknown. He also continues to write for traditional outlets such as HisKind Magazine.[11] In the summer of 2017, David worked with Festival Republic and Live Nation to lower homophobia and hate crime rates at the most popular British music festivals. [12] In 2018 he co-presented an episode of The Calum McSwiggan Show on Fubar Radio,[13] and filmed a cameo in the video for Sway by Tove Styrke. [14]
