Dat Adam, also known as DFA or Hydra-Clique and stylized as DAT ADAM, is a German hip hop/cloud rap group signed to BMG. Its three members are former YouTube stars Ardy (Ardian Bora), Taddl (Daniel Tjarks), and record producer Marley (Marius Ley).

Career

Formation and Chrome (2014–2015)

In 2014, Ardian Bora and Daniel Tjarks met Marius Ley through their colleague from YouTube, Izzi. In summer 2014, Tjarks and Ley produced an EP called Motus, which entered the German album charts on rank 35 for one week.[1]

After ending their YouTube career, Bora and Tjarks formed the rap group Dat Adam together with Marius Ley. The Hydra is a symbol of the band, which is tattooed on the members' fingers and written in Japanese Katakana-spelling (ハイドラ).

In April 24, 2015, the band's EP Chrome was released as a download and was mainly produced by Marius Ley. One week before, the single Forrest featured on that EP also hit the airwaves. This single ranked in the top 5 in the Austrian single charts. The EP Chrome ranked top 5 in all German-language album charts and even reached number 1 in Austria.

In addition, a 2,000 limited edition CD was sold on their online shop April 28, which also included instrumentals and Acapellas of every song alongside the actual track list.

Dat Adam performed as a headliner at the VideoDays 2015 in Berlin, as well as at the Web Video Awards 2015 in Düsseldorf.[2]

In August 2015, the single "HENNESSYXMTNDEW" was released on Spotify and later as a paid download.

In July 2015, the group performed as an opening act to Cro at the HipHop Open in Stuttgart. The group accompanied the singer on his tour afterwards.

Hydra 3D and How to Flex & Troll a Scene (2016–present)

Dat Adam performed in July 2016 at the Peace x Peace festival in Berlin. The performance included two of their new songs, "Lennon 2" and "Ghidorah"/"Legobricks", from their album Hydra 3D. The other performed song "Blau & Pink" has been released just before the event.[3]

By October 2016, Tjarks announced that the group is releasing their debut album which is released within the same month on Twitter along with the announcement of the opening of their new online shop. The album called HYDRA 3D was released on October 28, 2016 together with the eponymous single. The music video of that song was directed by Shawn Bu, the regisseur (director) of the short film Darth Maul: Apprentice.[4] The album was released via their own independent label Hydra Music, which is under contract at grooveAttack.

In November 2016, Dat Adam's first Space-Camp tour began. The tour started in Munich and ended in Dresden with their seventh live performance. The group toured with Young Kira, Young Mokuba, and Navy, also known as the Westghosts. These artists were also featured on their album Hydra 3D. The Westghosts also performed as an opening act. A friend of Ardian, Luna Darko is also filming performances of the group and their music videos. The videos are uploaded to Darko's YouTube channel, kitthey, and Dat Adam. Music videos of the songs "xD", "Sanageyama", "Lennon 2" and "Hydra 3D" can be found on the Dat Adam channel. The channel kitthey often publishes videos about the group's daily life.

In March 24, 2017, Dat Adam released their second EP How to Flex & Troll a Scene.[5] Four days later, the group launched their second Space-Camp-2017-tour,[6] featuring the Westghosts and NOK from the Future aka 014, who performed with their own songs as well as together with Dat Adam. It concluded in April 20, 2017.

In early June 2017, saw the band performing at the festival Rock am Ring and Rock im Park,[7] where they sang some of their older tracks arranged as Rock versions to suit the theme of the festivals.

By July 15, Tjarks published a snippet of the album CY-BEAST lvl1 on Twitter and Instagram. It was eventually released on September 29, 2017. The album contains 13 songs, three of them in cooperation with Sierra Kidd and the Westghosts.

After the Rock versions of their older songs performed at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park were well received by their audience, Dat Adam announced the release of their third EP Cyber Rock – EP in the form of a video on December 18, 2017.[8] It was released December 29 of the same year and featured five of their older cyber rap songs revised as Rock versions, so-called Cyber Rock. Together with the EP, they published the music video "DFA" (CR-Version).[9]
