Daryl Cobb is an American author, and children's (K-8) educational presenter.[1] Daryl is known for his work in children's literature (picture books fiction, middle grade fiction and real life fiction) and has written 17 books.[2] In 2014, his novel Baseball, Bullies & Angels won gold as a recipient of a Mom’s Choice Award.[3] He also tours schools presenting educational programs.[4]

Critical reception

Cobb has received positive reviews for his work. Kirkus Reviews, in 2013, called his children's novel Baseball, Bullies & Angels "required reading for kids and parents."[5] In 2014, Baseball, Bullies & Angels[6] won gold, with a Mom's Choice Award[3] and was endorsed by Stand For the Silent,[7] a non-profit anti-bullying organization in the United States.[7] Daryl Cobb is also known for his live performances and interactive educational programs, (A Writer's Journey and Music & Storytime) visiting more than 80 schools each year.[8] His work with school children has been received positively.[9][10][11]

Acting

While attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Cobb studied theater, music and learned to play the guitar. He has acted in many stage productions though the years including Biloxi Blues by Neil Simon and Fifth of July by Lanford Wilson.[12]

Personal life

Cobb was born December 5, 1961, in Utica, New York. He is the second of five children of Edward John Cobb, a retired high school math teacher, and Jacqueline Lee Bostwick, a homemaker and retired Methodist Minister.[13][14] The family resided in Hampton, New Jersey in Hunterdon County, where Daryl attended Hampton Public School[15] and graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1979.[14] Cobb married Joanne M. Salimbeno on November 13, 1993.[14] Daryl and Joanne have two children together, whom Daryl often credits for inspiring his career as a children's author.[14][15] Cobb and his family reside in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.[14]
