Darshana, Chuadanga

Darshana (Bengali: দর্শনা) is a small industrial township at the southwestern region of Khulna Duvision Bangladesh.[1]

Location

It is in the Chuadanga District and shares domestic borders with the Howli Union in the northweast, Begampur Union in the north the east and Kuralgachhi Union in the west. On its southwest lies the Nadia District (in the state of West Bengal, India).

It has an area of only 15.44 km2² but a population is of 40,000.

Description

Carew & Company Bangladesh ltd is biggest sugar mill in Bangladesh. It was established in the Pakistan period. Darshana has a land port with India and is the first entrance point for trains to Calcutta, India.

The Darshana to Jagotee, Kushtia rail line is the first rail road in East Bengal. Darshana station started when the Eastern Bengal Railway opened the line from Calcutta to Goalundo Ghat, in 1871.

Institutions

Darshana is the one of the best municipal corporations in Bangladesh after the sub-districts level in Bangladesh. There are 4 libraries, 1 college, 4 high schools and 11 primary schools. There are also a few hospitals for so many people.[2][3][4][5]
